Amsterdam 2016

Amsterdam really surprised me last year when I visited. I booked it as a pit stop after spending a week in Paris, but I really fell in love with the place when I arrived.

Canals everywhere and the bikes lanes are a dream compared to what we have in Vancouver.

The local coffee scene is also fantastic. Many shops roast in-house and lots of pourover fans here too.

One of the cutest place we stopped by was De Hallen. This warehouse-like building is packed with food stalls and cute local shops.

Raclette and beer.

How cute are these shops? If my suitcase was big enough I'd take everything home.

There were so many great spots I visited that I didn't even have time to take photos in. That's a sign of a fun trip, right?

Lunch at Pierre Gagnaire

One of the highlights of my Paris trip was having lunch in this beautiful room. This 3 Michelin star spot is modern and lively. The legendary chef Pierre Gagnaire himself personally greets every single table, and it's clear that he's frequently surrounded by friends.

I didn't take pictures of the whole meal, and I normally don't take any pictures at Michelin star restaurants. I figure they get enough publicity that if you want to see the food, you can find it elsewhere, and I'll be busy eating. I took a few shots here since I had my camera with me already, walking around Paris. I guess it helps me remember.

A ball of fine butter is always a sign that a phenomenal meal is coming.

One of our main courses. The beef in this was unbelievably tender.

I remember these as one of five (or more?) courses of dessert we had.

Unfortunately a blurry photo, but the details on these dishes make them such stunners.

Paris 2016

My first time in Paris. The city is old and dirty and charming as hell. And it only took me 8 months to put this post up.

The Louvre

We walked everywhere in Paris, you just can't help it when the view is like this.

People watching at the Louvre can be more fun than the art.

I love finding a quiet corner with good light.

Palais de Tokyo

This is a highly recommended change of scenery if you have been staring at the renaissance for too long.

And of course, I couldn't leave Paris without a visit to this little shop.
